Cause I got changed by what I’ve been shown
More glory than the world has known
Keeps me ramblin’ on

I love it when the song that will get me home, the last song of the morning walk/run, is Farther Along.

signs of spring-
bright green growth,
pollen on the windows,
lizards on the front walk.

How can I describe the joy of like-mindedness, no matter the difference of background or nationality or tongue or age? The ease that comes after years of familiarity, and the delight of getting to know new friends? The bliss of watching a child's elation in chasing the tide? An afternoon without wind? The haze that blurs the line where the water meets the sky? The bright hues of toys and towels?

These are the days that we remember for years to come.

on this afternoon,
I bought an iced tea,
drove to the park,
rolled down all the windows,
took off my shoes,
stuck my feet out through the door,
and for 90 minutes,
read a book.

shhhh...
don't tell.

It's a rare view in this place, to look nearly right into the fronds at the top of the palm trees...

"But even if I don’t read as many books as others, I read. If I’m not reading, I’m relying on my memory. Which seems to be decreasing daily. So I read. I once heard someone say that books don’t change people - sentences do. If I glean two or three sentences from a book that affect the way I think and the way I live, that’s time well invested. So I read. Books give me the opportunity to learn from and about godly, bright, insightful people I’ll never meet. So I read. What I know will always be dwarfed by what I don’t know. So I read. Books help me become more effective at what I do. So I read."

The sun came out bright and strong to start the day.
One thing after another accomplished, with time for lunch besides.
I felt healthy for the first time in nearly three weeks.
And so it was good to sing heartily,

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him.
Let the Amen
Sound from his people again;
Gladly for aye we adore him.

“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.”

It is the 21st anniversary of this little mission church- a little mission church that knows how to hold a big anniversary celebration. We worshiped and sang and listened (and even spoke!) and prayed and smiled and hugged and greeted and ate tacos and ate cake and shared much fellowship.
And we were blessed to celebrate God's faithfulness with them.

“We walked always in beauty, it seemed to me. We walked and looked about, or stood and looked. Sometimes, less often, we would sit down. We did not often speak. The place spoke for us and was a kind of speech. We spoke to each other in the things we saw.”

“I find it almost comforting to count calories, because it makes me conscious of what I'm eating. But on Super Bowl Sunday, I thought, 'Surrender to it. It's nacho time.' Then I ate nothing but Doritos all day.”

sometimes I am surprised that I am still surprised to turn a corner on my morning walk and see an orange tree in all of its ripe splendor in a front yard...,
nicely surprised, that is.

El estudio was fine but I was a failure during la dinámica. The dear lady asking the questions finally looked at me and asked, "did you bring your bible today...?,"
which caused much amusement for the guy sitting next to me...
