We unexpectedly found the table full this year, perhaps the silver lining to the otherwise huge Harvey storm clouds. The birthday boy cooked up a feast for the rest of us, pork with bean sauce, stir-fried green beans and rice. But his favorite chef  stepped in to bake the traditional German Chocolate Cake, gooey coconut pecan frosting sandwiched between layers of cake and covered with a deep chocolate ganache. The glow of the candlelight competed with the camera flash, and won. I am thankful for to share another year of life with this guy.
