Do not rob the poor, because he is poor,
    or crush the afflicted at the gate,
for the Lord will plead their cause
    and rob of life those who rob them.
Proverbs 22:22-23 (ESV)

Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
    he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
    who conducts his affairs with justice.
For the righteous will never be moved;
    he will be remembered forever.
He is not afraid of bad news;
    his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
    until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor;
    his righteousness endures forever;
    his horn is exalted in honor.
Psalm 112:4-9 (ESV)

Lord Jesus, because the gospel is true, we pray with confidence. "The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land. Yes, LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror." (Ps. 10:16-18 NIV)

The themes running through today's morning readings, unplanned and yet so very coordinated, left me looking at everything through different lenses today...
