Simple pleasures

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.
-- Simple Gifts, a Shaker song by Elder Joseph Brackett

A few simple gifts that bring me pleasure-

Sunday afternoon naps
laughing with my husband
fresh brewed ice tea with lemon
dark roast coffee in the early in the morning with friends
tomato off the vine
day lillies
my kids giggling
clean sheets on my bed
walking into church when no one else is there
walking into church when everyone I love is there
my favorite sandals

yours?

The smell of fresh, cut grass and robins singing their evening song

waking up to bird song, kids laughing, kids playing, spending time with hubby, quiet, the beautiful outdoors, restful Sundays, impulsive "I love you's" from the kids

mi familia, a familiar book, a new book, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, brewed coffee, fresh pico de gallo and tortilla chips, bright shades of green (Spring), a thunderstorm,a good run, kids' thoughts and perspectives, worship in different languages, fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ

oooh- good reminders!
Fresh cut grass, even when it makes me sneeze.
Recognizing the first bird song of spring.
Romans, even though my version is not so simple to read any more- it's so marked up!
Listening with eyes closed to worship in different languages.
Listening with eyes closed to worship and picking out familiar voices.
And, how 'bout the air AFTER the storm?
We could go on, eh?
